Emerald City Comic Con 2014

It’s been a heck of a couple of weeks and I was going to post about Emerald City Comic Con the day after I got back, but I came down with the case of the flu + cold that had me down for awhile. Here are some of the pictures that I was able to snap.

ECCC Roundup and Final Thoughts

Comic Con

I can’t believe it’s only been a week since Emerald City Comic Con ended, it seems like it was just yesterday. All in all, I had an incredibly positive experience going to my first con and cosplaying for the first time. I’m definitely making it a plan to attend as many cons as possible and I’m looking forward to Girl Geek Con in September. And here are a few photos that some friendly folks at con caught of me as Leela:

Emerald City Comic Con 2013: Loot Edition

As with any nerd, we are always on the search for new loot — and Emerald City Comic Con was no exception for me.

This was my first year exploring the floor, seeing artist alley and checking out the super geeky merchandise.

Here are a few of the items I was able to bring back in my Bag Of Holding.

1. Companion Cube Soap (DigitalSoaps)

A vanilla scented companion cube soap  from Digital Soaps. Isn’t it darling? It may look teeny, but this happy little cube comes in at just over 12 ounces! It has become It has become the focal point for my bathroom decor and made the room just a little more nerdy.

2. Fireflies in a Jar (Monkey Minion Press)

Fireflies in a Bottle.jpg

It’s so puny! This 5 x 7 piece is from the talked artists at Monkey Minion Press and just about the cutest piece of artwork I own!

3. Browncoats Eyeshadow Palette (Espionage Cosmetics)

“The man they call Jayyynee…”

I haven’t been able to get that catchy tune from the sci-fi series Firefly out of my head since I’ve picked this hoodie up.  From the epic ladies at Espionage Cosmetics this, you are introduced to colors like Reaver Red, Our Mrs. Reynolds and Shiny!

Earlier this week yo

sure you might have been thinking that when you saw this epic loot that I picked up. It’s a cute little set of handmade eyeshadows by Espionage Cosmetic. If you check out my cosplay edition blog post this year, you will see the lovely Lady Espionage the of the company. I had a quick chance to talk to these gals and just loved learning about this company. You should check out their story here (women-owned, women produced) and The Geeky Hostesses has a great post about her experience at Comic Con with them here.

Kittens may give Morbo gas but this little guy just makes me squee like a fangirl. This little bobbly head is in a set of about 20 different Futurama characters  It’s a random grab because you don’t know what you are getting when you grab them, but this guy was just perfect.

When I saw these vintage pins I just knew I had to have them for my pea jacket. I’ve been sporting a gorgeous hummingbird pin that a dear friend gave me for my birthday a few years ago, but these little fellas would perfect to join it.

Eeee! I wish this was real. Now I have my very own TARDIS Boarding Pass when I plan to cosplay as Rose Tyler next year at con. They also had ID badges for so many other fandoms, it was like a smorgasboard of fake ID’s, I felt like I was getting away with something illegal (at least in the fandoms).

As much as I’m an X-Men fan (and especially Wolverine), this purchase wasn’t for me, it was for Marcus. I saw this and I knew instantly that he would just love it. The artist, John Giang was even at the show and signed it for me, how cool is that? You can check out more of his work here.

Note: Not featured but also purchased, two cute pairs of stud earring from Cutebricks and a 1 up earring set from GeekStar Coustuming.

What is your most treasured piece from a con?

Emerald City Comic Con: #Guests

It is time for more Comic Con goodness, are you ready? Today is all about the guests and the fabulous people that I met at Comic Con. The range from voice actors to geeky bloggers and photographers and even a very well-known Shakespearean actor.  Take a look!

Me and Phil LaMarr.jpg

Me and Phil LaMarr (voice of Hermes from Futurama). I stood in line for about a half an hour to get Phil LaMarr’s autograph. He asked about my purple hair and I explained that I cosplayed as Leela and he told me I had kick-ass Leela shoulders (true story). I even asked him to do Hermes voice and he did (eee! I totally fangirled over that). Next year, I think my first stop is going to be the voice acting section so I can meet some of my favorite cartoon characters in real-time.

Me and Mandy.jpg

Me and Mandy (from Mandy McGee Photography). Mandy and I became friends a few months ago on twitter and I tweeted to her that I was going to be at ECCC this year. We ended up hanging out a couple times over the weekend and I found a great new friend in Seattle.

Felicia and Leela.jpg

Felicia Day and Me. Can you tell I’m squeeing inside? I met Felicia Day! OMG. She was why I came to Comic Con in the first place. I’ve been following Felicia for a few years and she is a great deal of my inspiration for starting this blog. I was so excited to meet her and we even got to talk about soap.

Patrick Stewart

Sir Patrick Stewart. ‘Nuff said. This was the last panel I attended before I left for the weekend and it couldn’t have been better. I mean, it’s Sir Patrick Stewart who we know as Jean-Luc Picard andProfessor X.

Prince Humperdinck.jpg

Chris Sarandon. Otherwise know as Prince Humperdinck from Princess Bride. He was so sweet and down-to-earth and answered all questions that were asked. I’m definitely going to take a look at more of the movies he’s been in, his great attitude peaked my interested.

Tara and Me.jpg

Tara from The Geeky Hostess. I’ve been following Tara’s blog, The Geeky Hostess for the past year and absolutely love reading it. It’s totally up my alley with it’s geeky fashion and makeup advice and Tara is such a sweetheart in real life. I was able to attend the panel “Being Geek and Feminine,” that she was on and it was actually one of my favorites, I can’t wait to chat with her more about it.

There were so many people and panels that I wanted to attend this year, but I only got to a few. Which panels and guest were your favorite?

Emerald City Comic Con: #Cosplay Edition

It’s only been one day since Emerald City Comic Con 2013 but I’m still on a high from all the geeky (and exhausting) fun that was had. Everything from vendors to panels to cosplay and more. Today I wanted to share some of my favorite cosplayer’s that I came across this weekend. If you see yourself below, let me know and I’m more than happy to link back. Enjoy! 🙂

Day One : Emerald City Comic Con

Oh my goodness! I can’t imagine a better day at my very first Comic Con. It was just an absolute blast to be smack dab in the middle of geekdom and have so many people that were just like me. The costumes were amazing, the merchandise was fabulous and the panels were stellar. There was so much going on that I cannot even begin to describe it to you in this short little post. But don’t worry, after con there will be an entire recap of the entire event. My favorite part of the day was seeing Felicia Day (squee, fangirl here). I was lucky enough to go to her panel, aptly entitled Felicia Day: Warrior Queen Goddess of All Nerds, and I even got to ask her a question.

Felicia Day

Did you get to go to Emerald City Comic Con? What has been your favorite part?
